The UAE Tour, a prestigious road cycling event held annually in the United Arab Emirates, has quickly become a fixture on the global cycling calendar. This exhilarating race, featuring a mix of flat sprint stages and challenging mountain climbs, showcases the stunning landscapes of the UAE while attracting top cyclists from around the world.

A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

The UAE Tour emerged from the merger of the Abu Dhabi Tour and the Dubai Tour, combining the best elements of both races. The event offers a diverse route that includes stages in the open desert, where crosswinds can play a significant role, as well as challenging mountain climbs like Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet. Additionally, a time trial stage often features in the itinerary, testing the riders' individual abilities.

International Recognition

The UAE Tour has gained significant international recognition, attracting a star-studded field of cyclists. The event's popularity can be attributed to its combination of challenging terrain, world-class competition, and the unique opportunity to race in the stunning landscapes of the UAE.

Behind the Scenes: My Role at the UAE TOUR 24"

Venue Management Associate and Operations Coordinator

As a Venue Management Associate and Operations Coordinator in the Finnish area, I played a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of the UAE Tour. My responsibilities spanned a wide range of tasks, from ensuring the safety of the racecourse to coordinating with vendors and managing a team of foremen.
Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Security: Prioritized the safety of the racecourse, particularly in the final 3.5 kilometers, by implementing appropriate measures and ensuring the area was well-prepared for the event.
Hospitality: Overlooked the setup and organization of the hospitality area, ensuring it met the highest standards and provided a comfortable experience for guests and VIPs.
Vendor Coordination: Collaborated closely with vendors to ensure timely delivery and proper placement of equipment and supplies.
Team Management: Managed a team of foremen, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring efficient operations in the designated areas.
Infrastructure Setup: Supervised the placement of barriers, signage, and sponsor banners in accordance with predetermined coordinates, ensuring a visually appealing and well-organized racecourse.
Timekeeping Arch: Worked closely with the building team to ensure the timely and accurate installation of the timekeeping arch.
Guest Services: Coordinated with the hospitality team from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to provide exceptional service to VIPs and guests.
Access Control: Implemented strict access control measures for hospitality areas, backstage, media, and operational areas, ensuring security and preventing unauthorized access.
Accreditation and Parking: Assisted the accreditation team on-site and managed the parking area, ensuring smooth traffic flow and efficient parking management.
Logistics and Asset Management: Ensured the timely transportation and logistics of assets between stages, maintaining the efficiency of operations.

My role at the UAE Tour was challenging but rewarding. I am proud to have contributed to such a prestigious event and to have played a part in ensuring its smooth and successful execution. The experience has allowed me to develop valuable skills in event management, team leadership, and coordination, which will undoubtedly benefit me in future endeavors.
